ZZF charity run with 850 horsepower

We here at CJ love one thing most of all and that is cars, we do however show interest in other things every now and then. Things like charity, especially when it’s in our home country .

It all started with our partner, RAC, asking us to accompany them as press during one of the last charity events of the year. Named ‘Dag met een lach’, it’s Dutch and it crudely translates into ‘Day with a smile’ and has the goal to entertain children with rare diseases whilst raising funds. It would become a day with 3 stops in total, being the start, a soccer stadium and an airport. Upon arriving at the start we were overwhelmed by the positive energy, everyone seemed to be having a good time. We quickly ended up being ‘car guides’ as we explained to many parents and children what each car was capable of. The first cars fired up after the welcoming speach and we were off to the soccer stadium of The Hagues local soccer club.

535D

Our weapons of choice were the Jaguar F-Type R AWD and a slightly modified BMW E61 535D, pushing out around 300 PS and 700 Nm. We couldn’t resist chasing some cars on the 5 lane highway, more show than seriously racing as we all knew that the childrens safety had absolute priority. After a quick stop and photoshoot at the stadium we continued towards the airport ‘Zestienhoven’.

275 kilometers an hour

We read the word ‘airport’ on the press kit, but we did not realise we would end up driving on the runway. With fear slightly crawling into our heads we turned onto the runway, only to lose all the fear as the children were smiling from ear to ear. No this wasn’t a day with just one laugh, it was filled with it. The experience on the runway was epic, although I feel that the adults enjoyed this far more than the children. RAC hit 275 kph on the runway and I stopped at 200 due to the fact that I had freshly installed winter tyres.

With the smell of cars pushed to the limit, the event ended as all children were handed gifts and the organisation announced the 20.000 euro sum collected that day. ZZF, you rock and were honored to be part of such an epic day.
