The German manufacturer confirmed that the Mercedes CLA will return in both sedan and shooting break form. But more importantly: it’ll also get a new AMG version as well with over 400 hp.
In a recent presentation, Mercedes announced that they will continue to make the Mercedes CLA, CLA shooting brake and also a new compact SUV called the GLB. No further details of when we can expect these cars but we’re guessing somewhere around the time of the Geneva Motorshow next year.
Looking at the current prototypes running around, the new Mercedes CLA will be a sportier variant to the A-Class sedan. It’ll feature a more distinctive front end look with a more heavily angled windscreen, more sexy curves in the roofline and rear end. And less glass with frameless doors.
Interiorwise the car will be more or less the same as the one you’ll find in the current A-Class.
But now more importantly. Just like the A-Class, the CLA will receive the AMG 35 treatment in both sedan and shooting break. The CLA35 AMG 4Matic will pull hp out of the M260 engine.
Next to that a tuned version of the M260 with 410 hp will be used for the CLA45. Just like the upcoming A45, they will use an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a newly developed all-wheel drive system that features an electronically controlled ‘drift mode’.
Mercedes will most likely release the A45 along with the new CLA at Geneva but be sure that the 35 and 45 AMG will follow soon.
