BMW is slowly killing of anything with a ’35 in its name it seems. After the death of the 335i, the next victims are known. All hail the M140i and M2401i.
The BMW M140i and M240i are the new sub-M babies and therefor we must say farewell to M135i and M235i. The king is dead, all hail the king. BMW has updated the cars engines, more power and increased efficiency included. The updated 3-liter power plant now pushes out 340 PS and 500 Nm, and increase of 14 PS and 50 Nm.
Increased power nearly always translates into increased acceleration, and so it does for the smallest Bimmers. The BMW M140i and M240i put down exactly the same number from zero to a hundred in each configuration, with the 2 series convertible being the odd one out. Fastest is a X-Drive and automated transmission combination, this launches the models to a hundred in a mere 4.4 seconds. Slowest is the odd one, this hits a hundred a half a second slower.
No word on pricing or other technical updates for now, this information should be available be available nearing the end of summer according to a BMW spokesman. And no, he could’t tell us why BMW is killing the ’35 figure.
