BMW just pulled off the covers of the new X3 M and X4 M featuring the all-new 510 hp six-cilinder engine. 2 striking new entrants in a segment that continues to grow.
Shortly after pictures were leaked of the X3 M and X4 M, BMW released its 2 latest sportscars heading for Geneva.
Both cars are powered by the all new M TwinPower Turbo 3.0L six-cilinder that produces 480 hp and 600 Nm’s of torque. It’s the same engine that we’ll most likely see in the upcoming M3 as well.
On top of that each one gets their Competition version. This raises the power to 510 hp.
All of that gets sent to an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox that then splits the power to the M xDrive system that was first seen on the M5. It allows the rear-wheel biased AWD system to send all its power to each individual wheel. This means that both the X3 M as well as the X4 M will do 0-100 in 4.2 seconds. The Competition does it 0,1 seconds faster.
The chassis has been strengthened and tuned according to the M standards. It has 3-way electronic controlled dampeners and a variable M steering servo ratio to combine daily comfort with sheer driving pleasure. Alongside that the X3 M and X4 M sit on gorgeous 21-inch alloy wheels.
On the outside the car is instantly recognisable as a true M sportscar. A quad-exhaust sitting under a big diffusor, M wingmirrors and M kidneys are a few of the things that show you this is not your everyday X3 or X4.
On top of that there’s an optional carbon fibre exterior package available for both the X3 M and X4 M that includes front air intakes, air blades in the front apron, rear diffuser and exterior mirror caps. For the X4 M there’s also a carbon spoiler to finish it off.
