Alpine might be unveiling the production model shortly, that is if the rumors are correct.
Renault has been feeding us bits of the long perished brand for a few years now, well since 2012 to be percise. Those teasers became increasingly more concrete and finally at LM24 and at Goodwood a true concept model named ‘Celebration‘ was shown. This was build to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the brand, but the company hinted there was more to this than just a concept.
Car Scoops has turned up some interesting information about the brand, as they claim that on the 16th of February Alpine will present a production ready A120. The name would follow in line with the old naming strategy of the brand, where one of the latest model to roll of the production line was named A110. The Celebrations design is in large amounts inspired by the older A110 and if that is any indication of how the rumored A120 is to look, the world will become a slightly better place.
The power source is still rumored to a 4-cylinder 1.8 liter engine pushing out between 250 and 300 horsepower. In combination with the weight of only 1100 kilograms, the Alpine A120 should be a competitor for the Alfa Romeo 4C, the Porsche Cayman and the rumored Subaru BRZ STI. Just over a month and we’ll know if the rumors are true, if they are than Geneva should become even more interesting.
