After introducing the new 2018 Vantage this afternoon, the 2018 Vantage GTE has been revealed. “Porsche, Ferrari, move aside: Aston Martin is back”.

Those are the words of Andy Palmer after revealing their latest weapon for the World Endurance Championship. The new 2018 Vantage GTE is determined to beat Porsche, Ferrari and the other competitors in the GTE Class next year.

The previous Vantage GTE was Aston Martin’s most successful competition car with multiple Le Mans victories up its belt.
Just like the regular Vantage, the GTE is a totally new car from the ground up and built to fully comply with the FIA’s latest GTE regulations.

Even though the car has only just been revealed, it has already covered 13.000 test kilometers including a 30-hour run at the Spanish circuit of Navarra and a durability programme at Sebring. The whole Aston Martin Racing team including the drivers have been part of development. And so far the reliability has been exceptional according to Aston Martin. Drivers also noted that the Vantage GTE is easier to control on the limit than the previous one which Aston Martin says will attract teams in the GTE-Am category more easily.

The car features the same AMG-derived 4.0L twin-turbo V8 as the regular Vantage uses but tuned to match FIA regulations. New technical partners also include Alcon for the braking system, Öhlins for the suspension and Michelin for a bespoke tire compound to match the Vantage GTE’s performance.

With the new Vantage GTE, Aston Martin is ready to take on the competition once again and it looks like the competition is going to be fierce next season. With the top dogs like Ferrari, Porsche and Ford but also newcomer BMW. It’s going to be an exciting season for sure.
