A clash of the past and the future

Rimac has been at it for a while now, drag-racing and annihilating all sorts of cars we petrolheads put on a pedestal.  Still not in its final production form, the Rimac electric hypercar had yet to fight the absolute king, the Bugatti Veyron (No, Koenigsegg fanboys, don’t start now. You know as well as we do that this is a way better benchmark). Until now that is, as it’s finally time for that ‘Rimac versus Bugatti’ fight!

The video was made by the guys from Wilton Classics and Supercars, yes they made that other video too. It’s a short video in which a 1/4 mile is run by the 1001hp Veyron and the 1073hp Rimac Concept One. Both are AWD, but the Rimac uses 4 engines mounted directly to the wheels and suffers less from drivetrain loss.

Unsurprisingly the Rimac wins, keep in mind that the Veyron would still catch up past the 1/4 mile. For now though, with more and more gearboxes finding their way into EVs, it’s only a matter of time before even Bugatti’s legendary Vmax-record is taken from them.
