The rumour mill around the 2019 Mustang GT500 has once again started. This time there is confirmation about the powerplant and it sounds good.
The 2019 Mustang GT500 is the most anticipated Mustang of the sixth generation and that means lots of rumours. However its impossible for such a big operation to hide such a project. And from time to time leaks will drip out of Ford.
This time the heart of the 2019 Mustang GT500 has been leaked from the deep depths of Ford’s top secret facilities. After rumours of a twin-turbo, the following photo was leaked. It’s a picture of a Supercharger with a Shelby snake on top of it with a 5.2L badge engraved as well.
The 5.2L V8 will not be the same one from the GT350. Instead of a flat plane crank, it’ll use a cross plane crank just like the 5.0L V8. There’s no confirmation about the output of the engine but some people have hinted north of 750 hp. Who knows.
Despite those leaks, we still know very few things about the upcoming 2019 Mustang GT500 other than this and benchmarking against a Camaro ZL1. The car’s release date is still unknown but we could see it as soon as the NAIAS.
