2018 E-Class Coupe leaks way ahead of Detroit launch

How an analog leak goes viral in the digital age, the story of Mercedes-Benz and the 2018 E-Class Coupe

Leaks come in all shapes and sizes, some happen due to well informed spies and others happen for the simple reason of printed folders getting handed to the public too quickly. That last one is exactly what happened to Polish car-folder-collector Jakub Widla and you guessed it, he found folders of the yet to be revealed 2018 E-Class Coupe. Set to bedut in January next year at the Detroit show, Mercedes-Benz planned to launch the model to the press this Wednesday. That's when we'll be able to show you high-res images instead of these folder shots. But there's no complaining about the shots, as they also provide us with information concerning the engines on offer and the cars dimensions.

Build on the genes of its fellow E-Class variants, the 2018 E-Class no longer uses genes from the C-Class like its predecessor did. This hybrid platform caused the lack of AMG variants in the previous E-Class coupe. AMG configurations sadly don't show an E63 just yet, but there's plenty of hits that it's happening. They do however show that the car will be available as an E200, E300, E400, E43 and of course the taxi-spec E220d. More numbers popped up, as we now know that the car will grow 20 centimeters and lose a maximum of 100 kilograms. If the unveiling shows anything interesting this Wednesday, be sure to tune in on our social media. We're frankly to lazy to write about it again. Via Autovisie
